Meet The Mentors
Ari
Hi, I'm Ari, I love to help younger kids thrive in school.
My interests are sciences and technology.
My favorite subject is history.
I love sports including baseball, soccer, and basketball.
I want to tutor to help kids grow and become who they want to be.
Ruby
Hi my name is Ruby Chen, and I play fencing and I run.
I also play the ukulele and I am interested in photography.
My favorite subject is math and P.E because they have the most
variety in them and have the widest range opportunities to learn.
I am excited to tutor because I love teaching younger kids,
and if I have the chance to help someone else, then I am in!
Olivia
Hi, I'm Olivia. I am a 7th grader at Lincoln Middle School.
My favorite subjects in school are history and PE.
I play lacrosse, volleyball, and waterpolo. I enjoy art and spending time with my friends!
I want to be a tutor because I love helping other people.
Esprcially during Covid-19 it's so important to help support each other and keep learning while on online school.
Maya
Hi everyone! My name is Maya Quilici and I’m super psyched to be apart AROM covid school. It’s important that you all know about all four of our 7th grade mentors. So here’s a little bit about myself…
I’d say that I’m a pretty physically active person because my hobbies include soccer (go Alameda Islanders!) and dance (ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, and acrobatics). I’d also say that I really care and look out for the environment. Doing my part to help maintain a healthy, safe, and positive environment for myself and others to live in here in our little town has always been a big part of my life.
While I’m on the subject of my love for the environment, I’d like to mention that I’m a pescatarian. Pescetarianism is very similar to vegetarianism, but the only difference is that a pescatarian diet incorporates seafood in it. I made a decision to be a pescatarian because I love animals.
I wouldn’t say that I’m super artistic, but I would definitely say that I portray a least a few artistic abilities. I love to do something called calligraphy, which is a fancy style of lettering that is done with brush pens. I also love to draw out simple sketches (roses, sunflowers, cat side profiles, cacti) and color them in. I’d say that I can paint pretty well, but nothing extravagant.
My favorite subject in school is english language arts because I’ve been told that I have some sort of knack for writing and I have learned to develop a passion for it. When I start writing about a topic, I can just go for hours without stopping. I hated this about myself during school because sometimes I would stay up so late at night trying to perfect my work and have cut into my sleeping time.
Anyways… I’m really excited to help guide your young students through this crazy thing we call distance learning!
